If she's already asleep, she'll wake up and find it necessary to occupy herself as a distraction from the noises.
Personality: Raised with the attitudes of a blood purist, Lila found herself looking down her nose in disdain at those around her with impure blood. Her sister had escaped being affected by her parents' attitudes, but Lila was rather taken with the prejudices initially. It wasn't until she got to Hogwarts and grew up that she was able to shed the mindset slightly, and still hasn't shed it entirely. Obviously, she's formed closer bonds with the pure-bloods she spoke to earlier in her Hogwarts education, but she realized not every half-blood is completely hopeless. Her parents have nothing to say about it because she never told them, as it is none of their business to whom she spoke, especially while she is at Hogwarts. Slytherins are still her favorite people.
Possessions are just about everything to Lila. Friends are all well and good, but things stay around longer. They're more dependable than people and are most often less annoying. A closet of clothes can't do anything except possibly look less than stellar. While she is loyal to her friends, she is duplicitous with others, frequently acting pleased in front of them and then mocking them behind their backs. She is also suspicious of others because of it, and doesn't trust people. She has no reason to trust most people when she herself is untrustworthy. Lila is skilled at sounding convincing and adept at lying, worming her way out of trouble rather easily. Of course, if a lie doesn't work, she'll go to a bribe.
Lila doesn't have a single athletic bone in her body. She hasn't been on or near a broomstick since her first year for flying lessons, and she doesn't intend to. Lila isn't as manipulative as some of her former housemates can be, but she is very sarcastic and has a rather dry sense of humor. Mocking people is typically the most fun she can have. Lila doesn't especially enjoy parties unless they benefit her and allow her to gossip about others. Much to her delight, that is exactly what they are good for. The social gathering aspect takes a backseat to what she can say about the others in attendance.
As she is one to spread gossip, Lila loves hearing about it. She has her ways of finding most things out, and no secret is sacred to her. If she finds out about it, it's fair game to share with the rest of the student body. Her cunning allows her access to things others might desire to keep hidden. Lila breaks any secrecy curse which she sees fit. She frequently reads Witch Weekly, though does not see herself working for the magazine because she has no interest in writing for it. Also, she figures a Ministry position will let her earn more money. Lila's gossip is more of a hobby than a career choice, which also added to her decision to not write for Witch Weekly.
History: Brought together by their parents, the Moon's marriage was arranged, as were most purists' marriages. Oliver and Katherine had been familiar with each other, since they were both Slytherins when they attended Hogwarts, but they never spoke much due to his being three years ahead of her. They had two children, Madelyn and Jacob, and then Lila was born just as the sun was peeking over the horizon on December 12th. Madelyn and Jacob were five and three respectively. Oliver's intent had been to stop having children once they had a son, and he'd been happiest when Jacob was born, but Katherine was assertive with her vision with three children.
While Lila was toddling around in diapers, Jacob was making a pest of himself. He would steal Madelyn's toys and push Lila over when she stood up. The Moon's children's nanny never did anything about it, and their father wasn't around to see it. He was too busy monetarily supporting Voldemort. The nanny had Katherine duped into believing being pushed over was the best thing for little Lila. A little crying and a few bumps never hurt anyone, boys will be boys, etc. Jacob grew out of it, eventually. Lila stopped crying and started hitting back around the time when Madelyn was first showing signs of magic, but that wasn't the clincher. The summer that Lila started showing magic, Jacob switched from pushing her over to pulling her hair and breaking her toys instead of Madelyn's. Lila got so angry that a dozen of Jacob's toys were shattered beyond repair, all while no one was in the room.
Madelyn left to start her first year at Hogwarts when Lila was six and Jacob was nine. The nanny took to keeping them apart except for during their lessons so she wouldn't have to listen to the screaming. Lila easily entertained herself with her plethora of toys, purchased for her by her parents and gifted by her nanny. The more she got, the more she wanted, though Oliver and Katherine did try to draw the line. Tantrums were a common noise around the Moon house for quite a while, until Lila got the house to herself for nine months starting when she was eight. Where she'd previously had to stay in her bedroom and play with her toys, now she had the entire house and nobody to break her things or pull her hair. Madelyn wasn't bad at all, but Jacob could be a jerk.
Lila was impatient for the sorting, and it had taken just about forever for her name to finally be called. She was put into Slytherin, like her parents and brother. Madelyn was in Ravenclaw: more well-read than her family. She had Slytherin traits as well, but the Ravenclaw traits outshone them. Lila hadn't been at all surprised when she'd learned that Jacob was put in Slytherin, nor was she surprised when she was herself. She joined her new housemates and brother at the Slytherin table, content with the hat's decision and just glad to finally sit down. Familiarizing herself with the building wouldn't be an issue, since she'd heard scores of stories from both Madelyn, who was starting her sixth year and was glad she had normal exams (having sat through her OWLs the year before), and Jacob, who had his second year of Hogsmeade trips to look forward to.
Harry Potter had come during that year, though, and he became the talk of the castle for reasons Lila had no knowledge of. Her father may have given money to Voldemort and his followers before his downfall, but she had no knowledge of that. All she knew was what everyone else knew, and Lila didn't really care. Harry Potter had no reason to have the celebrity status that he did. Lila found herself ignoring his existence as much as possible, as well as the existences of his little friends, but the students of her year weren't completely devoid of intelligence. Potter turned out to be somewhat difficult to ignore with their being in the same year, so Lila often found herself joining in with her classmates' taunting. It was for the common good.
Content with Hogsmeade trips (once she was a third year) and a few clubs as her activities, Lila didn't care too much about Quidditch, not that she would've been able to play on her house team anyway. Her brother liked the sport, and she supposed he got his comeuppance when he tried out for the Quidditch team and didn't make it. That's what he deserved for being a prat, to her knowledge, and was satisfied with mocking him for years. That didn't mean they didn't begin to get along once they grew up. The endless pestering and picking on ceased for the most part once Jacob reached puberty and began to wise up. By his seventh year, his relationship with each of his sisters had changed.
After her OWLs, Lila realized she needed to be thinking about careers. She was strongly considering something in Gringotts, but the thought of working with goblins didn't appeal to her, and a Ministry position won out over the bank. She planned her classes accordingly, and is hoping to find an internship straight out of school. As the war waged on, Oliver Moon found himself continuing to support Voldemort, though he still wasn't branded with the Dark Mark. He sold out several muggleborns to the Ministry and Voldemort, playing an indirect part in their captures and deaths. Once the war was over, however, he was captured and put into Azkaban, though later released when he'd served his time. That event was Lila's first knowledge of her father's affiliation.
Even before she was finished with Hogwarts, her parents had her picked out and situated with a future husband. Lila was furious, since neither of her siblings had been put into that same situation. Not only was she being sold off before she was done with her schooling, but she also had to hear it from the mouth of the boy her parents picked: Blake Harper. It didn't go over well with either of them, and Lila actually left the country in hopes of not having to marry Blake. It didn't work: she was found and called back, though she got the feeling nobody had been worried while she was gone. She suffered through the ceremony gracefully, if not pleasantly. The honeymoon didn't play out as well.
Lila hated being married to Blake so much that she spent the majority of her honeymoon drunk and passed out in the bathroom. The rest of the time was spent with Cevill Wright of the Wigtown Wanderers, a direct descendent of Bowman Wright, the inventor of the Golden Snitch. She didn't care if it was improper or whatever: it was improper that she had to be married to someone she couldn't stand (though the feeling was definitely mutual and she knew it) since learning of their impending doom. She was sure she could've found a suitable husband for herself on her own rather than being sold off sooner than either of her siblings, or at all.
The tendencies during the honeymoon remained the same for Lila once they were back in England. The slept in their own bedrooms and kept to themselves in general, aside from the compulsion to provoke each other every now and then. Lila was not looking forward to having to sleep with him in order to have children. She just wasn't looking forward to children. Lila knew she could remain a virgin for the rest of her life and still be content. It may make her marriage slightly easier to handle: if neither of them ever touched the other. She did not get a job. Instead, she let Blake be the one who worked while she spent his money. It was his fault that they were married anyway.
Astrology: Yes, Virginia, Sagittarians can get sorted into House Slytherin. And not always as Quidditch players, either, although there have been jokes made about how the Hat will sort big, tall Sags into Slytherin just to pad out the team. Slytherin Sagittarians are sorted primarily because of their ability to dream; these Sags have a vision, and with the support of their House, can channel their energies to great achievements. In return they give their House something priceless beyond rubies: a sense of perspective. Temporary failure is not humiliating to the Sagittarius Slytherin, merely a temporary setback in pursuit of a goal. They can laugh at themselves even when other people are laughing at them, and of course that turns the joke on the idiots who came up with it in the first place. (How devious.) Although bright, these Slytherins will coast through their classes if they can get away with it; they'd rather envision the future than attend to the details of the present.
